Adventure is always waiting for me.

First of all, I misunderstood about the topic.... so it's all about my self autobiography. Sorry ! I will do better in next time !

200700121 Ko Yoon Jin

A baby girl was wandering around her grandmother's living room while thinking how she can get out of here and play outside with her friends. Her grandmother had a bended waist with her old age, so the baby girl couldn't just jump out to play because she felt bad for her grandma. The day, bright sunshine was so warm and wind blew nicely. She kept standing in front of the small porch with a little bit sad eyes. The baby girl was me, and I'm not so sure whether it was when I was four or five or even six. But only thing clear is that this is the earliest memory I have.

My mom and dad was busy making money to feed me and my younger sister when we were kids. Even still my dad is busy because we both are going to universities. So I and my younger sister were staying with my grandmother mostly. I really didn't want to go to grandmother's house at that time because she cannot move quickly as I could do and I always felt sorry for her disabled body whenever I saw her.

However, I had many friends there to play because my grandmother's house was located on a side street. There were 5 houses including us, so there were about 10 kids to play. I was the second oldest girl in that street, but I was the boss of those kids. I knew many games to play together. Some of them were just made by me. I was full of new game ideas, so everyone loves me to play with me. One day, I decided to venture outside of the street. We planned to go picnic without mom and dad. It could be very dangerous because there were a lot of cars or even older bad boys or… whatever. But the idea of going picnic was so attractive and fabulous for a baby girl like me. So I prepared some rice balls to eat with other friends and packed some kimchi and strawberries from my grandmother's refrigerator. It was a sunny, bright day. I think it was spring because the weather was just perfect for a picnic. I don't remember exact members who went picnic together, but I remember that I was that kind of girl who even prepares a mat to sit on. I think I was less than 10 years old at that time.

I was a very loud girl. I couldn't stop laughing because every day was so exciting. I was elected for school leader when I was 6th grade in Shinsa elementary school. There was a English speech contest and I got a first prize. I liked my fluent English pronunciation. It's all from practicing by me with my tape recorder. So when I entered middle school, I thought it would be impressive to my classmates if I could have a speech in English to be elected as a class leader. I had a brief introduction of myself in English and asked them to give a vote, and then I spoke the same thing in Korean because I'm a kind class leader. I was elected but some of my new friend didn't like me at all.

I studied hard to get in the Goyang foreign language high school. My mom was very delighted about the fact that I was the only one who could pass the exam in my all family members. My major was Japanese and it was so much fun to learn a new foreign language. In just two years, I passed the highest level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. And that was mainly the reason why I chose to major in Japanese for my life time. I want to learn many more other foreign languages throughout my life such as Spanish, Chinese, or French. I believe the girl standing in her grandmother's porch to wander how she can get out of there will always venture outside world without any fear because there are her friends out somewhere waiting her to play

    About her writing.
I think her writing skill is pretty good, though her writing is far from literacy biography.
Especially the part I like most is the first paragraph's hook. It is like part of well written literature and attracts reader's attention very well. And it is well conncted with conclusion pragraphy's last line.

  2. yoon jin, when I read your introduction, I felt like just in there. It was like a picture. I think it is a good point to write a narrative essay. And..in your conclusion part and the last two sentence, I was suprised a little because I expected more stories about developments in your university life. How about add some details of your HUFS life?

  3. This writing really impressed me. I could imagine what you wanted to say and it was as if I was reading a novel. This writing would be better if you add more recent stories because time passed after you graduated from high school :)

So I went to America when I was a sophomore student. I met the nicest people in my life and while I was talking to them naturally just like I’m talking with my heart, it was so easy to speak in English. Once I became fluent in English and got enough confidence to speak up, I went to travel around in U.S. Most of people I met or I asked for a help were very nice and kind. It has been four years in HUFS, and now I’m working on job hunting. I wish I could travel more and meet new friends every day of my life, but it’s time to be a career person that I was aiming for many years. I guess it’s somehow different type of my adventure, but still I’m so into it and I will do my best to achieve my dream.
